I'm a software engineer by trade, and I've worked in technology my whole career. A lot of the people I care about haven't. Friends and family ask me what AI can actually do for them, and whether they're using it right.
I also see small businesses without a big budget that could run noticeably better with the right help.
That's why I started Suncoast AI Lab: to help those people and those businesses. The work can be as simple as a text back for missed calls or as in-depth as a multi-step system that ties several tools together. I've spent my career building both kinds.
AI is now easy enough that anyone can open it and start typing. That's the good news. The harder part is using it well: on the right task, in a way that saves real time, and responsibly, with a person still checking the work.
Here's one way I use it myself. Before I sign off on a document, I have AI read it first and list the gotchas: the terms that need a second look, what's missing, and anything I should keep an eye on. It doesn't make the decision. It makes sure I don't skim past the parts that matter.
Small, useful jobs like that are where most people should start. That's what I'll share here, in plain English.
Next week: the first thing I automated for myself, a text back for missed calls.
